Check the requirements, back up your files and prepare your installation drive. Follow the steps below for a new installation.
System requirements.
| Processor | 64-bit Intel or AMD (x86-64). This ISO does not support ARM. |

| Storage | At least 32 GB for the system and apps. The installer uses the entire selected drive. |
| Boot mode | UEFI. Disable Secure Boot for this release. |
| USB drive | At least 4 GB. Writing the image erases the USB drive. |
Test Wi-Fi, sound and other important devices in the live environment before installing. Hardware support varies between computers.
Back up your files first
The selected drive is erased completely, including existing operating systems and files. Save important data on a separate drive. The current installer does not offer automatic installation alongside Windows.
Install in four steps.
Create the installation drive
Download the ISO and write it to a USB drive using an image-writing application. In Sara OS, use USB Writer. Copying the file onto the drive is not sufficient.
Boot from the USB drive
Open your computer’s boot menu and select the USB drive in UEFI mode. The key varies by manufacturer; check your computer’s documentation.
Review and install
Choose Install Sara OS in the live environment. Set your language, keyboard, time zone, drive and account. Disk encryption is optional. Check the selected drive carefully before confirming.
Restart your laptop
Wait for installation to finish. Remove the USB drive when restarting and sign in with your new account.
After installation.
Connect to the internet and open Settings → Updates. Install available system updates, then add applications through Software and customise your preferences in Settings.
